University Training Overview

WST's University Program has helped many students from schools across the country prepare for the rigors of the workplace by blending technical "hard skills" with the "soft skills" needed to succeed during their job hunts.

We use the same source material used to train corporate clients, but condense several weeks of training into one or two days. Course topics vary widely in both breadth and depth, ranging from basic accounting to complex merger & LBO modeling, and are offered at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Refer to our two case studies to learn about professors and administrators who believe in WST's role as a supplement to the classroom.

Take a test drive of our online courses to get a hands-on look at how we prepare students for the real world.

Career Development Tips

  • How to network effectively beyond traditional on-campus recruiting
  • Personalized resume critique by a current industry professional
  • Interview prep: technical questions, behavioral/fit questions and "curveballs"

Before each seminar we design a curriculum around the needs of the student group and allow students to prepare using our free online video supplements. During training we utilize our effective teaching methodology, emphasizing the thought process behind each modeling step. After the seminar students are invited to our lifetime support forum and may order more self-study courses at a discount.

University Training Courses

More and more students are choosing a finance career during or even before the undergraduate level. In our seminars, students learn what their professors never taught them (or apply what they did learn).

  • Build and test financial models - actual models we use to train our corporate clients
  • Master financial modeling & valuation - understand the core modeling techniques
  • Analyze M&A and LBO transactions - understand the rationale and quantify capital structure
  • Ace every interview question - career development tips are integrated into our sessions

We typically base our university training around the modules below. For a more comprehensive look into the program, download our university overview (PDF).

University Training Case Studies

Read below about two schools whose administrations welcome working with the WST University Program.

Cornell University

Cornell's top students needed a way to make their undergraduate curriculum more applicable to finance job interviews and summer internships.

The Mutual Investment Club of Cornell (MICC) is a prime opportunity for students to hone their exposure to the financial services industry. At MICC, members research investment opportunities and present their findings about various sectors to other fund members. The process better prepares them for their interviews in the financial services industry.

WST has complemented Cornell's curriculum and helped our students connect the dots in class to what is expected of them on the job. In addition, the session included a segment on interview and career development tips. As a result, many of our students felt more prepared for their upcoming interviews and networking opportunities.

University of San Francisco

USF's graduate students wanted their advanced finance classes to more easily translate from academia to their future jobs.

The MS in Financial Analysis program at the University of San Francisco is designed to give our students extensive exposure to advanced finance courses. I have relied on Wall St. Training to supplement our students' education with comprehensive modeling skills that take full advantage of what they've learned in the classroom.

From their applications of modeling and valuation in various industries to their coverage of qualitative questions in interviews, even our highest achieving students walk away from a WST seminar more confident about their skill set and more ready for their interviews and long-term careers.
